Are you noticing your frown lines (the 11’s between the eyes) or, your forehead lines more these days?
Another area that people notice as the first signs of ageing is the lines around the eyes (crow’s feet).
Does it worry you that you can see the deep lines?
This is an area that Greg has been getting frequent requests from new and existing patients to correct / minimise these lines. In particular, when patients’ smiles have been freshened up, they typically look at the rest of the face to match their new smile.
Wrinkle relaxers and / or dermal fillers are used to soften these lines.
Botulinum Toxin Type A can be used to relax the muscles around these areas. In some cases, dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid, HA) may be employed to replace loss of tissue, in particular around the lips and in the mid-face. As we age, the tissues (fat pads, muscles, collagen, bone) around these areas lose their tonicity nad volume hence giving the appearance of a drooping face. Dermal fillers can help restore some of this volume loss and give a refreshed and sometimes a more youthful look.

How long does this treatment last?
That is a great question to ask. Typically, wrinkle relaxers last anywhere from three – six months. A lot of it will depend on maintenance, daily skin care routine and your metabolic rate. The wrinkle relaxer is a product that your body will break down. The breakdown will start to occur from two months after treatment and by three months the relaxer would have been fully metabolised. In cases where patients see it lasting longer around the six months, the breakdown point could start as soon as four months. Dermal fillers can last up to two years. However, the most critical part is your daily skin care routine.
Using clinically and scientifically proven skin care on a twice-a-day basis helps maintain any cosmetic injectable treatment that has been provided. Sometimes, active surface treatments like micro-needling / micro-dermabrasion is required to help stimulate the production of collagen. As Australians, most of us worship the sun. This prematurely ages the skin. To minimise the harmful effects of this, re-hydration, active skin treatments, and a really great daily skin care routine is a must.
Dry skin gives the impression of ageing. Hence, drinking a lot of water (2L – 3L a day) helps restore balance / re-hydrates the skin tissues. Hydration of the skin means that the tissues are healthier. Healthier skin means other skin treatment will work better.
Wrinkle Relaxer
Dr Gregory Chang has partnered with dermatologists Dr Rodan and Dr Fields with their skin care range Rodan and Fields.
There are three core regimens that are available to manage most skin conditions. Redefine to manage fine lines, pores and dullness of skin; Reverse to manage damaged skin from the sun, improve skin tone and texture; and Soothe to reduce redness and calm sensitive skin. Unblemish is the regime to help with acne.
With these four core regimens, Dr Chang would recommend adding multi-function eye cream and the Active Hydration Serum (AHS). The eye cream works really well as you can see with Dr Chang’s personal results for the one line under the eye.
The AHS works well in attracting up to 200% more moisture to the skin. This is applied after step two of the Reverse or Redefine regimen, or after step one in Soothe regimen. This changes the overall look and feel of the skin. Re-hydrating the skin allows the following skin treatments to have a better impact and therefore, better result for your skin. The AHS last for up to eight hours. So, if you have meetings all day, this is a great way to have great looking skin all day.
